Dr Gill Hicks


Dr Gill Hicks AM MBE joined the Independent Advisory Council in 2025.  

An award-winning creative director, published author and keynote speaker, she is known for her profound insights on living with a disability and the importance of inclusivity. Dr Hicks is a bilateral amputee with significant hearing loss – injuries that were inflicted by a July 2005 terrorist bomb attack in London.

Dr. Hicks holds multiple doctorates, reflecting her dedication to education and her pursuit of knowledge across various disciplines.

Dr. Hicks’ contributions to community and countering violent extremism have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Member of the Order of Australia (AM) and the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).
